Making and sharing baked goods is not new to our baker and owner. At the age of 9 she was making cookies and taking them out to the neighborhood to sell for 35 cents a dozen. (Ha! gone are those days, huh?) She continued to love to bake, and just several years ago, she started our granola business really by accident, when she tried to make some healthy and good tasting granola at home. Not one to follow a recipe, she added ingredients in a proportion she thought would be a good mix. Fortunately, she wrote it down! Her son-in-law, who was preparing for a triathalon, would eat it before trainings. He said it was the only thing that would “hold him” through. Pretty soon all his friends were eating it, and their friends. Then her daughter shared it with her friends...so she continued to bake more and more and would have to double and triple the recipe just to satisfy the demands for her granola. Within a year, she had several varieties to keep everyone happy. When people would ask, “What have you been up to lately?” she would say, “Baking granola!” Of course, she was asked to share some, and that led to more orders. Soon a commercial oven and mixer were purchased, and so here we are - sharing her granola with you!
